Mumbai:- Prof Dileep Namdeorao Malkhede, Advisor – I, All India Institute of Technical Education has been appointed as the vice chancellor of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University.
Governor and Chancellor of Universities Bhagat Singh Koshyari has announced the appointment of Prof Dileep Malkhede to the post for a term of 5 years.
Prof Malkhede succeeds Dr Murlidhar Chandekar whose term ended on 1 June 2021.
Dr Vilas Bhale, Vice Chancellor of Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth Akola was holding the additional charge of the post.
Prof Malkhede who is Professor in Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering in Pune is serving on deputation to AICTE as Advisor –I since 1 June 2016.
Dr Dileep Malkhede (b. 27-08-1966) obtained his BE and ME from Government College of Engineering Amravati. He took his PhD from IIT Bombay. He has extensive experience of teaching, research and administration.
The Governor had constituted a Search Committee under Prof. J S Rajput, former Director NCERT to recommend to him a panel of names for the appointment of the post of Vice Chancellor of the University. Prof Pramod Kumar Jain, Director, IIT (BHU) Varanasi and O P Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Government were other members of the Committee.
The Governor announced the name of Prof Malkhede after interviewing all the candidates recommended by the Search Committee.
