New Building of High Court of Bombay at Goa inaugurated by Chief Justice of India Sharad Bobde

Goa, 27 March 2021

The New building of the High Court of Bombay at Goa was inaugurated by Chief Justice of India, Shri Sharad Bobde in the august presence of Union Minister for Law and Justice, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad along with the Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant today.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Justice of India Shri Sharad Bobde said that the new building will give the State an opportunity for better Administrational justice and some of the best arguments. This new building is a sign of new times. New Building will go to hear some of the best arguments and receive some of the best judgements.  

High Court of Bombay at Goa has maintained the highest tradition of judiciary and made a significant contribution in the field of law, said Chief Justice of India.

Challenges of Race, Religion, Caste, Community, Language, Region were solved very constructively by judiciary- Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad

In his address, Union Minister for Law and Justice Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad lauded the efforts of the State Government for providing the infrastructure for Environment friendly new building of the High Court of Bombay at Goa.

He said, for rendering judicial infrastructure support the Centre, State Governments and the judiciary led by Chief Justice of India have to play a role of great mutuality.

Emphasizing on Digital Courts; Minister said that the unique innovation to allow virtual courts is remarkable. During Covid Pandemic 82 lakh cases were heard Digitally by the judiciary. The Great wheel of justice kept going through digital mode during the pandemic, said Shri Prasad.

Social Media is empowering the people. That is a good thing. But, after filing Public Interest Litigation, many people start Social Media Campaigning which is not fair, said the Minister.

Judges at the Supreme Court Shri Justice N V Ramana; Shri Justice B.R. Gavai, Shri. Justice A.A. Sayed, Shri Justice S.S. Shinde, Chief Justice of the High Court at Bombay Shri Justice Dipankar Dutta; Minister for Law, Shri. Nilesh Cabral; Justice at the High Court of Bombay at Goa, Shri Justice Mahesh Sonak and Advocate General of Goa, Shri Devidas Pangam were also present at the inauguration of the new building of the High Court of Bombay at Goa.
